experiences and promote holistic development through sports. With dozens of competitive AAU
basketball teams competing across local and regional circuits, we take pride in our passionate and
skilled coaching staff.

We’re looking for motivated assistant basketball coaches to join our PPA AAU program and work with
our competitive boys and girls teams. Assistant coaches will have the opportunity to learn directly from
experienced head coaches and may be promoted to a head coach role based on performance,
leadership, and commitment to PPA’s player-first philosophy.

Responsibilities:

• Support & Lead: Assist in leading 2–3 practices per week, helping implement practice plans that focus
on player development, fundamentals, and team concepts.
• Game Day Coaching: Support the head coach during league games, tournaments, and scrimmages
(2–6 tournaments per season).
• Player Development: Provide direct feedback and instruction to athletes during practices, games, and
film review sessions.
• Team Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, players, and PPA directors to
support team culture and expectations.
• Coach Development: Participate in PPA’s internal coaching workshops and clinics throughout the
year (e.g., Coach Wootten Clinic, USA Basketball training).
• Program Standards: Uphold PPA’s core coaching values—be prepared, be professional, be a
teacher, and foster positive development on and off the court.
Requirements
• Experience: 1–3 years of basketball coaching or playing experience (AAU, school, or recreational
level).
• Commitment: Willingness to learn and grow within the PPA system, with interest in advancing to a
head coaching role.
• Location: Must be local to the Washington, DC / Bethesda, MD area or able to commute for practices
and tournaments.
• Skills: Strong communication, enthusiasm, reliability, and an understanding of how to balance skill
development with competition.
• Availability: Evenings and weekends required during the AAU season.

What We Offer:

• Competitive Stipends: Compensation based on experience, role, and team level (range varies by
season).
• Growth Path: Clear progression from assistant coach to head coach based on performance and
program needs.
• Professional Development: Access to PPA coaching workshops, USA Basketball certification
opportunities, and mentorship from experienced directors.
• Flexible Scheduling: Accommodates other jobs or commitments.
• Coaching Gear: PPA-branded Nike coaching apparel.
• Supportive Environment: Be part of an organization that values collaboration, diversity, and personal
growth through sports.
